Byte Unit Converter

The Byte Unit Converter is an online tool for converting between digital data units such as B, KB, MB, GB, TB, and PB. Operating systems often use binary notation, where each unit is 1024 times the previous one, while hard drive and SSD manufacturers often use decimal notation, where each unit is 1000 times the previous one. This difference can make the same storage capacity appear smaller or larger depending on where you check it.

For example, 1 TB of storage equals 1,000,000,000,000 B in decimal notation, but it is about 931.323 GB when viewed with a binary base. Understanding the 1000 versus 1024 difference helps when checking OS file properties, download sizes, backup storage, email attachment limits, or remaining cloud storage capacity.
