IBAN Validator

IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is the global standard format for identifying bank accounts in international transfers. Comprising up to 34 alphanumeric characters, an IBAN consists of a 2-letter country code, 2-digit check digits, and country-specific bank code, branch code, and account number components.

The check digits are calculated using the ISO 7064 Mod 97 algorithm, enabling mathematical verification that detects transcription and input errors with high accuracy. Most IBAN errors stem from digit misalignment or transcription mistakes during data entry. Early validation prevents costly transfer failures and associated time losses.

This tool performs four key validations on any IBAN: (1) basic format check (country code + check digits + alphanumeric), (2) country-specific length verification, (3) mathematical check digit validation using ISO 7064 Mod 97, and (4) extraction of country name, bank code, and BBAN information. Batch validate multiple IBANs by entering them on separate lines—ideal for streamlining international payment operations.
