About Tone Generator

Tone Generator Online plays a selected frequency in Hz directly in the browser. Choose sine, square, triangle, or sawtooth waves for speaker checks, tuning practice, and frequency comparisons. White and pink noise are also available.

Enable sweep to move smoothly from a start frequency to an end frequency, upward or downward. Set a sweep duration of 1 to 60 seconds and an end-frequency hold time of 0 to 60 seconds, defaulting to 5 seconds. Playback fades out briefly after the hold and stops automatically. Sweep works with the four periodic waveforms, but not with noise. Start at a low volume.

Audio is generated locally, with no file preparation, upload, or account required. Press Save audio to choose WAV or MP3 (320kbps) and save the current settings in mono. Use WAV for tone checks and editing, or MP3 for smaller files to use in videos. MP3 uses lossy compression. Choose 1 to 60 seconds for a constant tone or noise; a sweep file includes its sweep and hold time.

How to use Tone Generator

Enter a frequency in Hz or choose a musical or test preset.
Choose a waveform and volume. For a sweep, set the end frequency, sweep duration, and hold time.
Press Play. Stop a constant tone manually; a sweep stops automatically after its hold time and can also be stopped early.
Check the audio length and press Save audio, then choose WAV or MP3. Sweep files include both the sweep and hold time.
