Audio Distortion Maker & Volume Booster is a free browser-based tool for intentionally turning MP3, WAV, M4A, and other audio files into loud, clipped, surreal sound. Adjust distortion strength, bass chaos, digital roughness, and treble bite, compare the result with the original, then save it as MP3 or WAV.

Create loud meme-style distortion

The exaggerated sound used in internet memes is not created by playback volume alone. It comes from driving the waveform beyond its limits and flattening the peaks through hard clipping. The Meme-style preset combines heavy clipping, boosted low frequencies, and light digital degradation. Light Clip, Blast, Broken Speaker, and High-pitched Whine provide distinct starting points, including a piercing electronic treble effect.

Distortion character is processed separately from the final output peak. Comparison uses the browser's native audio player so you can see playback position and volume, with an initial volume of 70%. Heavy distortion can still contain harsh high frequencies, so check your device or headphone volume before playback. Audio never starts automatically.

The standard volume booster is still available

Use the Volume Boost tab when you want to make a quiet meeting recording, voice memo, or music file louder without selecting the creative distortion mode. Manual adjustment from 100% to 500% and four boost presets remain available. The Normalize tab uses whole-file RMS for a simple target around -16 dB; it is an estimate rather than standards-compliant LUFS measurement.

Processing runs locally in your browser through the Web Audio API. Your selected audio file is not uploaded to or stored on our servers. This makes it useful for private recordings and unpublished production material. Only process audio that you have permission to use.
