About Image Histogram Viewer

In photography and digital image editing, histograms are the most fundamental and important tool for objectively understanding the brightness and color distribution of an image. Camera monitors and smartphone screens make it difficult to accurately judge exposure because ambient lighting affects perception, but checking a histogram lets you instantly determine numerically whether highlight clipping (blown whites) or shadow clipping (crushed blacks) is occurring.

Image Histogram Viewer renders histograms for R (Red), G (Green), B (Blue) color channels and perceptual Luminance (0.299R + 0.587G + 0.114B) across 256 bins (0-255) simply by dragging and dropping an image. Additionally, it displays a statistics table showing Min, Max, Mean, Median, and Standard Deviation for each channel, enabling quantitative analysis of overall brightness trends, contrast strength, and specific color component biases.

All processing is completed entirely within the browser using the HTML5 Canvas API, so there is no need to upload unpublished photo works or confidential client images to a server, ensuring complete privacy and information security protection. This high-precision color distribution analysis tool is designed for professional photographers, designers, video creators, students learning image processing, and anyone who needs to accurately understand the color information in their images.

How to use Image Histogram Viewer

  1. Drag and drop or click to select an image file (JPG, PNG, WebP, etc.) into the drop zone.
  2. Once loaded, histograms for R, G, B, and Luminance channels are automatically rendered.
  3. Use the channel toggle buttons (R / G / B / L) to select which channels to display.
  4. Review the statistics table showing Min, Max, Mean, Median, and Standard Deviation for each channel.

Benefits of Image Histogram Viewer

  • Instantly renders 4-channel histograms (R, G, B, Luminance) for visual understanding of color distribution and exposure.
  • Displays numerical statistics including Min, Max, Mean, Median, and Standard Deviation per channel for quantitative analysis.
  • All processing happens in-browser, so confidential images and unpublished photos are never sent to external servers.
  • No installation required — supports major image formats like JPG, PNG, and WebP for immediate analysis.
