The primary reason PDF files become large is the high-resolution image data embedded within them. Scanned documents, photo-heavy reports, and design comps can easily reach tens of megabytes. When email attachment limits or cloud storage restrictions become a problem, re-compressing the images inside a PDF is the most effective solution.

This tool renders each PDF page at high quality, re-encodes it as an optimally compressed JPEG, and rebuilds it into a new PDF. Four quality presets are available — Maximum Quality, High Quality, Standard, and Maximum Compression — letting you balance visual quality and file size for your specific needs. The 'Maximum Quality' setting can achieve 30-50% size reduction with virtually imperceptible visual difference. For scanned documents and text-heavy PDFs, the 'Standard' setting or above can maintain excellent readability while reducing size by 70% or more.

Please note that the compressed PDF will no longer support text selection or search functionality. Since the optimized PDF is converted to an image-based format, we recommend keeping a copy of the original PDF if you need to extract or copy text later. All processing runs entirely in the browser, and your PDF data is never uploaded to any server.
