Prepare Color PDFs for Black-and-White Printing

Color PDFs can become hard to read when they are printed with black-and-white settings, especially when charts, screenshots, or colored labels depend on subtle contrast. This tool renders each page, converts it to grayscale, and saves a new PDF that is easier to review before mono printing or document sharing.

Luminance-Based Grayscale Conversion

The conversion uses the ITU-R BT.601 luminance formula (0.299R + 0.587G + 0.114B), which gives different weights to red, green, and blue instead of averaging them equally. Because the PDF is rasterized page by page and then rebuilt, the final readability depends on the source document, selected scale, and JPEG quality. Open the converted PDF and check important documents before sending or printing them.

Three Quality Presets

High Quality (Print) uses a higher render scale for documents with fine text or charts. Standard balances readability and output size for regular office documents. Draft creates a lighter preview file for quick review or internal sharing.
