Reading Time Calculator

The Reading Time Calculator is an online tool that automatically estimates how long it takes to read a given text. It works for blog posts, reports, presentation scripts, book manuscripts, and any other text content.

Japanese text is calculated based on character count (default: 500 characters/minute), while English text uses word count (default: 250 words/minute). You can quickly select from three preset speeds (slow 250 chars/min, normal 500 chars/min, fast 750 chars/min) or fine-tune with the adjustable slider. The tool displays character count, word count, and estimated page count (based on 400 characters per page) simultaneously, making it useful for gauging manuscript length and content planning.

All processing happens entirely in your browser — no text data is ever sent to a server, so you can use it with complete confidence in your privacy.
