Simply enter the contract or receipt amount in Japanese yen, and the tool displays both the applicable tax bracket and the estimated stamp duty amount. Stamp tax classification depends on the actual content of the document, not only the title or label, so important contracts should still be checked against official guidance or reviewed by a professional.

Reduced Tax Measures As of June 2026, Japan's reduced stamp duty measures apply to certain real estate transfer contracts and construction work contracts created from April 1, 2014 through March 31, 2027. This calculator is based on Japan National Tax Agency tax tables for Type 1 to Type 20 documents and the reduced measures for real estate transfer and construction contracts.

Consumption Tax Notes If consumption tax is separately stated in a contract or receipt, the amount used for stamp duty classification may differ from the tax-included total. This tool calculates from the amount you enter, so confirm whether you should enter the tax-included or tax-excluded amount for your document.
